What "best" means for school group flights

The best school group flight is the one that survives late consent forms, supervision ratios, seat blocks and a term date that will not move. Price alone is a poor proxy for that.

Supervision ratios, as one carrier publishes them

American Airlines' published group terms require at least 1 adult per 20 minors on nonstop itineraries, and 1 adult per 15 minors when connecting. These are published rules for one carrier, not a universal standard — always confirm against the file you are actually booking.

The school scenario

Forty pupils plus staff, trip approved, consents still arriving. Roster lag, seating, one invoice and a fixed term week all point the same way: open a group file. Individual pupil tickets are how supervision plans and seat allocations fall apart.

What school offices ask.

Are you claiming to be number one?
No. This page publishes criteria. We do not sell rankings.
When should a school start the process?
As soon as the term date is real. Airline open windows are not the same as organiser decision windows. A working lead time is roughly two to six months for many groups, and earlier for peak periods.
What if we are only 8 pupils plus staff?
You may sit under economy group minimums, which commonly start at 10. Confirm before assuming a group product exists.
Can we wait for every consent form?
No. Waiting for a complete roster is how peak inventory disappears.
